Set in the very heart of rural Charente, Les Passeroses is idealy located - not only for it position between five airports, good road networks and train communications - but also its peace and quiet! The beautiful rolling countryside is mainly used for crops rather than pasture. Vines, maize and sunflowers fill almost every field from May through to October.

This region is famed for the quality of its light, a luminosity that draws artists and photographers from far afield. A clarity comes from the nearby ocean, which combines with a warm inland glow to produce an amber light, softening the contours of the land and giving a magical radiance to any building stone that it falls upon.
